Bsquared, it is not August but late July on the Excel. Check out the Sokioga/Stires trip. I went with these guys last year and what a great group of guys. Most are related and are medical professionals. Very low key fun group of guys. It was my first ever trip and they took me under their wings and helped me out. I walked off the boat and put a deposit on the same trip for next year. The Excel is a wonderful ship with an even better crew. For by your words you will be aquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. Matt 12:37

Best comfort = The Intrepid Best Food = The Intrepid Best fishing boat to go on ? That's like playing roulette. You can play in the nicest casino, nicest barmaids, but what number will come up more often? You really won't know until you get back. Truth be told , some trips have been one guys best ever, and one guys worst ever, life really is like a box of chocolates, kiddo !!! Practice safe sex !!! sweet charity

I ended up deciding on a limited load 5 day early last August on the Royal Polaris. We headed straight to Guadalupe and fished the windward side of the island for yellowtail. Nothing wide open but several quality fish (Home-boys) up to 50lbs. The second day we started in Tuna Alley. It was early August so the season was really just starting. Anyway, we landed 6 yellowfin 20lb to 60lb. I lost 2 that I had on for over 20 minutes each: 1) chewed through my 40lb and I pulled the hook on the other. We hit the backside of the island and had a couple good snaps on yellowtail before taking off to Cedros. The next day we had wide-open yellowtail fishing at Cedros from 20lb to 45lb with some awesome fishing on the sheltered side of the island in beautiful weather. The yellows really put on a show. At one point, a 100yd x 100yd area of fish opened up in front of the boat. Frank Lopreste (the captain) drove right into them and everyone got bit instantly. The next day, on the way home, we had great dorado/yellowtail fishing on the paddys. The boat and crew were awesome and I just booked another 5 day trip for late August/Early September 2009 on the RP. The food was restaurant quality and one crew member even jumped over-board to save a dropped road that got tangled in some lines after falling overboard. To everyone's surprise, there was still a nice yellowtail on the other end that a lucky angler managed to get to the boat. I am hoping to redeem myself in Tuna Alley this summer. Thanks, -B

I took a 5 day on the Shogun in July that was a blast. Great food and wide open yellowtail at Cedros. Shogun has a nice wide beam but it is a bit slow. Norm the captain is a cool guy and good fish finder. I am sure the other boats are great too! Chad Tackle stores love me. Fish fear me.

The Intrepid is my Phonix. I am hooked on her. However, with the quality of the Boats, fishing and the crews??????? You could just jump blind, land on any one of them and have a spectacular trip. Royal Star Vagabond Spirit of Adventure Polaris Supreme Royal Polaris Indy RRIII Excel Slogun Take your pick and have a blast.
