Thanks Russ, now if I can get some time to get out there and try it before it gets too cold. I saw a fishing report from Dec 31 2005 last day of the year, and it stated that there were schools of bunker with lots of bass on them. Could it repeat this year? I am off to find some crocs.

The bigger the better 5 or 7oz Crocs single hook if you can get it.You can buy replacement single hooks and just cut off the treble . While the trebles work fine the siwash can't be levered out as easily and makes unhooking much less of a problem when the bites on . Also a single hook hangs less on bottom structure and is easier in tangles .

yea single hook is the way to go,you just have to be faster netting them.Nothing worse then a big slob blue chomping on 3 hooks...you might have luck at the hook house on rt.37 toms river finding crocks If you cant find them down your way.Try the white with the holographics too,it seems to catch a bigger striper at the right time

Thanks for your help boys, I'll be on the search tomorrow. I agree on the single hook, there is nothing like a the long bite of a siwash. I hope to fish this weekend if I get my Christmas shopping done. I really like this board, no wise ----- making idiotic comments. I do not want to be censored.

Pedro, Russell & Cav, You guys are giving me trigger itch. Your'er fishing and I'm not.... LOL... This Key board trolling gets old in a hurry. I want to pack up and head East. How's about youse guys occasionally take some pics and post them with you messages. Some nice Stripers and a Blue or two with some smiling faces attached. I especially want to see a 7 oz. Croc, what ever that is. Suspect its a jig but I have never seen one. Almost a half a pound of jig , what do you use to sling them with, trolling rods? I Googled "Crocs" and came up with CROC POT and Croc "O" Meter. What a bust. Have a 2 1/2 day'er out of San Diego on the Pacific Voyager planed for Jan 19-21. Going down to Colnett in Mexican waters about 120mi. South of SD. for Yellow Tail in the rocks then some bottom fishing for some Reds and Calico. Anyway ,keep up the great posts , a lot of West Coast guys are watching your bite progress. Walt

Walt ,I hope you catch um up . all a Croc is is a Crocodile spoon that we modify by putting on a siwash hook if it has a treble . You could probably catch YT's with them . I caught a lot of nice bass on the candybar jigs also . I have pics but no scanner to send them in .

Russell, Do you fish out of Barnegat Inlet? How long do you intend to keep the boat in? I am staying in till the bitter end. I missed some good fishing due to early pullouts the last couple of years. I might be able to get a day in this week. I spoke to my buddy and he is ready to go, depends on the wind of course. I will be sure to post a report. By the way how did the Gambler do on Christmas eve. Donde esta Pedro?

most of the time I go out of barnaget,The boat is docked in toms river so depending on the mood and if I'm picking anyone up at a dock. But I like going out of barnagat so I can hit the inside pocket of island beach before I head out.the boat is staying in till the wheather changes,we where going to pull it a few weeks back but I keep my eyes on the night time temps if there is full week of freezy temps then it's time. But most of the boat is winterized already just incase and I put alittle washer fluid in the bildge area everytime after use.

We got out Xmas Eve and we caught a couple dozen keepers and headed home . The bite was at the Shrewsburry rocks and the bait was the Croc with one fish coming on a live Herring that I caught on a Sabiki rig . Capt. Bob has had OK fishing Tuesday with a couple around 30 lbs . The Channel bite has stopped with the fish being caught around the rocks . We hope they keep moving South .
