Hi Mark,

I am hoping you can give me a suggestion. I have an Okuma Nomad NT-C-703M-MH Travel Rod. I have been trying to figure out which Avet model would best suit this rod. I live in the prairies in Canada and there isn't even a store near me that carries anything close to what Avet offers for me to have a clue what reel to select. Obviously as a travel rod I want my setup to be as versatile as possible for trolling, jigging and casting, but taking advantage of what this rod can do is also important. Although your latest Avet reel video is excellent, I just dont have the experience to match it. I'm back and forth between the LX and HX. I just dont know what would balance this rid best. ...if I want it to be as versatile as possible I think I should go 2 speed, MC and standard width.

Please share some wisdom. If you need more info on usage let me know.

Also. You should do an update in the Toro Tamer rods. It seems you have changed what is available. ...If you do, please also try to include some info on what reels would best fit them as well. Or make a video on how to match rod line rating to reel drag capacities, using braid or mono.

Much appreciated.

Well, you came to the same sort of conclusion where I was headed, HX or G2 LX. The JX is also worth consideration, but as much as I like that reel the greater line capacity of the LX is an advantage and broadens the use for the combination. The HX is a very versatile reel, but won't feel quite as comfortable as the LX on that rod.

Thanks for the feedback regarding vids and perspective. I'll keep it in mind...

Great Stuff!

Right on. Thanks for the confirmation. Glad I'm on the same page as a pro. I just need to decide what I want to sacrifice. If I want more line capacity and a bit more drag with the HX vs better castability and comfort with the G2 LX. Decisions decisions. ...maybe I should focus on convincing my wife I need both.

Oh. One more question. Do you know if the Nomad line has been discontinued? It seems like its slowly disappearing.

I do really like what you guys have done with the Toro Tamer rods. If shipping/taxes/duty/brokerage to Canada didn't cost more than the rod I would have a few different models. ...even for just how much smaller they travel than the nomad. I always nervously put my travel rods in my checked bag, which can be a challenge with the length (again, a good travel fishing bag isn't something I can't get here). No way I will carry on because I know that will be the day I get a security guy that thinks the butt section could be a weapon. I hope to visit the store some day. I bet its a fishermans paradise.

Thanks again.

For duties/Tax/Shipping to Canada. You might have something setup at your closest Border crossing. For me in Toronto, I got Mark&Leeana to ship it to Niagara Falls NY (Warehouse mailbox service) and when I cross to going NewJersey fishing I will pick them up.

As for dealing with Guys at Charkbait, you come for the right place. They are here to help and very patient with Rookie like me.
