I have to see if crimping with a chaffing spring is still being suggested on big super cow fishing. Do they prefer tying knots? Crimping sleeves and burning the last tip of mono? I know that it's very popular to go knotless with spectra to flouro / mono on the line, but what is the usual way of connecting the hook to line, either for live bait ringed circle hooks, and also what about CHUNKING with big 14/0 j-hooks? I thought that there may be a more preferred method in this day and age whereas these crimps have been used for quite a few years . we need the best and that's why I ask.

On my last trip, Jan, '08, there were crimpers and tiers, both work but I prefer knots.

I also like to use smaller hooks when chunking unless the chunks are large enough to hide a larger hook.

For inquiring minds. Here is the Joe Miller Knot. Just tested it on some 20lb XXX and the line broke, not the knot.
