Does anyone know the Actual Breaking Strength of the Toro Tamer 16 strand 60lb hollow?
I've had a spool for a couple years, trying to decide how best to utilize it.
Thanks!

A few years back Paulus tested the line. The 60 came in at about 90 lbs actual breaking strength if my memory is correct (and I think it is otherwise I'd not have mentioned...). Since the time he tested Toro's diameters have gotten skinnier but it's till just as conservatively rated. Capacities have increased, for example on my own Avet 50's I used to get 600 yds 130# with a minimal topper. Now I have 800 yds loaded on my reels!
Better manufacturers are conservative in their line test. That helps compensate for reduced knot strength. When using an in-line leader rig, there is no drop off in strength. So, 60# leader-, 60# braid, still set your drag for 60 lbs use ~ 18-20 lbs. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Chark,

Thanks Mark, I wanted a higher ABS so 80-90lbs is good.
