It's been a very very long time since I posted anything here (Hey Mark!) but always stop at the barn when in O.C. I'm wrapping another jig rod, 8 footer, Shikari BT8030 on acid. Want something small, light, fast and great cranking power with a comfortable handle. I've been using a Daiwa Sealine-x 40 HV but can't stand the handle. Any suggestions?

get the MC or you can spend time in birdsnest heaven with an Avet. I like the Newell, too.

I fish both a JX 6/3 and an LX but for tossing jigs I like my penn 545 gs.

I can really toss with that reel and its not expensive.

for an avet my choice for 30 lb string jig fishing would be an mxj 6/4

cheers

onemorecast,

If the reel you now have, your Daiwa Sealine, will work but the handle is less than ergonomic, what not just switch handles?

I have yet to be disappointed with any Daiwa reel we own, including our older model Sealine X. I have never used our Daiwas outside of their intended applications, though.

Good luck,

TT

Have you tried the handle from an old Daiwa SL? I put them on all my Penn GS reels. They're a cheap improvement.

Thanks Tommy and MarkT ... where can one get either an upgraded handle or the handle from the old Daiwa SL?
