I am thinking of buying an Avet (never used one before and new to these higher end gear). Here's my question... If you are suppose to set your strike at 25% to 30% of you topshot#, why would I need all the extra drag. So for a HX 5/2 Raptor with a 80# topshot, I would set the strike to 20-24 lbs right? What am I missing here?

So you don't push a mechanical device to its limit. Your car will go 120 mph, but you really shouldn't drive it that fast all the time. The regular HX will fish 60# but not much more. For 80#, get the Raptor. You'll love it.
