I'm getting geared up for an upcoming trip and wanted to get some opinions on what is the best knot to make a mono to flourcaron connection for my leaders. I use a back to back uni knot for for spectra to flouro but im not sure its a good knot for mono. any input is appreciated.

Look at a Seagar knot. It works for me.

Charks got some videos on knot tying - his mono to fluorocarbon is the simpliest and best knot ever, not sure if that's the Seagar knot. Every trip I go on I'm showing guys that knot, and they are surprised at how easy it is to tie. Watch what you use tying the knot at the hook though - that's a tricky one because the flouro is stiff, San Diego works best for me!

The Charkster has a great video demonstrating
the Seaguar Knot one of the best you can use
for the Fluoro/Mono join.

Also here is a link to the Seaguar site with
an animated video on how to tie the Seaguar Knot.

What ever you do avoid the Uni to Uni there are
much better choices.

UNI to UNI, it's a proven knot.

For lighter test lines the uni is just fine, but the Seaguar knot will prove itself easier to tie well and will hold better as the line test moves up. I use that connection exclusively now and recommend learning it. It's easy, fast, and hard to get wrong.

Great Stuff!

While I have personally tested the
Uni to Uni against the Seaguar Knot and the Albright Knot and have obtained objective data
to support the fact that they are both superior to the Uni to Uni I would suggest the following to skeptics.

Take a 3ft. section of Fluoro and tie a 2 ft. section of mono to one end using the Uni to Uni and on the other end tie a 2 ft. section of mono with the Seaguar Knot. Put on some safty
glasses and gloves and pull on the ends of the mono with a buddy and see which knot breaks. This will by pass the hear say and give you rock solid evidence on which knot to use.
